Myrient shut down on 31 March 2026, on schedule, with no reversal. The domain still answers, but every path under it, including the old /files/ directory tree, now returns the same closure notice pointing at the Discord and Telegram channels. If you bookmarked a Redump folder, it is gone. If you typed “myrient” into a search engine hoping it came back, it did not.
The good news is that the collection survived. The community finished a complete mirror of the archive two weeks before the deadline, and it is available today through one project plus a handful of older sites that never went anywhere. This page covers where each kind of set lives now, how to actually get it, and which “Myrient replacements” to avoid. Myrient’s one feature nobody has replaced is the plain HTTP directory tree where you could wget a whole folder. No site offers that for the full 385 TB today. The full archive is torrents now, and the rest of this page assumes you are willing to run a torrent client for the big sets and use the HTTP sites for singles.
Minerva Archive: the Myrient Mirror
Minerva Archive is the project that mirrored the entire Myrient tree before the shutdown. Its own FAQ describes it as a community effort to archive the whole of Myrient and distribute it in more effective ways, and the homepage still carries a thank-you to Myrient. The mirror was declared complete around 12 March 2026, and the project’s code repositories were still active in June, so this is not a dead memorial page.

How it works, and what it is not
Minerva hosts no files. Every collection has a Download Magnet(s) link, and the search page filters by group, manufacturer, console, region and size so you can find the magnet for one system rather than one collection. You paste the magnet into a torrent client, the client pulls the files from other people seeding them, and you seed back. The project recommends qBittorrent and a VPN, and its answer to “how can I help” is to seed what you can.
So three things Myrient users expect are absent by design:
- No HTTP browsing of files. You cannot open a folder and click a zip.
- No single-file downloads. A magnet for a system gets you the system. Your torrent client can deselect files inside the torrent, which is the workaround for grabbing one game.
- No download manager. The paid scrapers that helped kill Myrient have nothing to scrape here.
No registration is required. Search works without an account.
Practical notes
Torrent health is the one thing I cannot verify for you. A 206 TB Redump collection split into per-system torrents lives or dies on seeders, and popular systems (PS1, PS2, GameCube) will always have more than an obscure one. If a magnet sits at zero seeds, the Internet Archive is the fallback for that system.
Storage planning matters more here than it did with Myrient, because you download whole systems. A complete PS2 Redump set is measured in terabytes; a full No-Intro SNES set is a few gigabytes. If you are pulling a disc system, you want an external drive, and for a handheld library a 512GB card covers every cartridge system you own with room for a PS1 collection. Convert disc images to CHD before they go on the card; the CHD guide covers the tool, and it roughly halves PS1 and PS2 sets losslessly.
Internet Archive: for Single Downloads
The Internet Archive never lost its ROM collections, and it is the only place left where you can download one file over HTTP from a verified set. In September 2026 a title search returns hundreds of No-Intro items and over a thousand Redump items, with a dedicated Redump collection of more than three thousand entries. The “No-Intro ROM Sets (2024)” item is the one the r/Roms megathread points at for cartridge systems.
Two caveats. Some items are locked and need a free account to download. And the Archive is slow for big pulls; a multi-gigabyte item can crawl, and the site throttles parallel connections. It is the right tool for “I need this one PS2 game”, not “I need PS2”.

The Direct-Download Sites
None of these carry full verified sets. Each is good at one thing.
CDRomance is the place for PS1, PS2, PSP, GameCube and Dreamcast disc images, and it is unmatched for fan translations and ROM hacks of disc games. Downloads moved off-site after an ESA notice in 2024, so expect a redirect. Per-game only.
Vimm’s Lair is the oldest name on the list and the one with manuals and box art for everything. It removed most Nintendo, Sega and Sony first-party titles in June 2024 after a rights-holder request and said plainly that those games are gone for good, so it is not the place for Mario or Sonic. It keeps adding vaults (3DS in 2025, Xbox 360 digital in 2025, Wii U in July 2026) and introduced site-wide rate limiting in August 2026, so bulk pulls are slow by design.
EdgeEmu returned this year with a notice that its cartridge sets are complete and its CD sets are one-game-per-region. Fifty-plus cartridge systems from the Atari 2600 through the Neo Geo Pocket Color. For a Game Boy or Genesis library it is quicker than a torrent.
mdk.cab is arcade only: MAME ROMs kept in sync with the current release, which was 0.289 as of August 2026. If your neogeo.zip is the wrong version for your emulator, this is where the matching one comes from; the Neo Geo BIOS guide explains why that matters.
r/Roms megathread is a directory, not a host. It is maintained, it dropped Myrient from its lists, and it is where new sources appear first.
Romheaven and Planet Emulation are still up and still listed in the roundup, but neither replaces anything Myrient did: Romheaven is cartridge systems on a decentralised backend, Planet Emulation is a French-language general site.

The searches that land on this page are usually “myrient” plus a console. The mapping:

What to Avoid
Paid download managers. The scrapers that charged for “premium” access to a free archive were one of the three reasons Myrient closed, and at least one is still selling a supporter tier. There is nothing left for them to download; the host is dead. Do not pay for a tool pointed at a site that no longer exists.
The old GitHub downloaders. Several open-source Myrient downloader projects are still on GitHub. Every one targets the erista.me file tree and returns errors now. They were fine tools; they have no target.
“Myrient is back” posts. A March 2026 post that made the rounds was about the mirror progress tracker at myrient.org, which is a dashboard showing how much of the archive had been copied. It hosts no files and never did.
Full HTTP mirrors. I searched for one and found none. Anyone advertising a complete Myrient directory tree over plain HTTP in 2026 is either wrong or asking for money for a torrent someone else seeds.
Why It Closed, in One Paragraph
The maintainer’s own announcement gave three reasons: donations stayed flat while the monthly bill passed six thousand dollars from one person’s pocket; third-party download managers bypassed the site and put features behind paywalls; and RAM, SSD and hard drive prices climbed with the AI datacenter build-out. It was a money problem, not a legal one. Nothing in the 2026 record shows a rights-holder action against Myrient, and the Nintendo takedown waves this year hit Switch emulator forks on GitHub, not ROM archives. The maintainer’s hShop project continues, and donations to the old address now support that.
